Birding in French Polynesia - Day 10

Birding in French Polynesia X

10 January 2026

Over the next 28 days, I will be spending my time birding on Tahiti and Mo'orea, two islands in the Windward Islands, an archipelago belonging to French Polynesia, an overseas territory of France. Birds in italics indicate lifers.

Saturday Jan 10 2026 - Day 10

Today, we went down to Vaiava Beach, near where we are staying. We went in the water and used the snorkelling equipment provided by the Airbnb hosts to see some fish. We saw Picasso Triggerfish, and many Yellow-stripe Goatfish. While in the water, we saw some birds, too, such as a large group of Brown Noddies, an adult female Great Frigatebird. Some White Terns, and the odd Wandering Tattler on the beach. We enjoyed our time in the water, despite not doing very much otherwise that day.
